the concept
Barracão aims to project simple yet effective wood made furniture and objects. The design process starts early, straight after the meeting is done, we get to the drawing board and try to find the perfect slab for the purpose. May that be a dining table, bed, sideboards, shelfs or sculptures: We start from the begining.

We go trough a lot of sketches to match the desired piece and budget. It's always something unique, personal and meaningful, that's what we're here for. Every piece has it's own process and concept, we do not repeat drawings or replicate what has been done. We go towards the original and unseen.

Architect since 2018, thesis on Wood Construction.
Started working with a Master Woodworker from the Architecture University, since 2015. The learning was very efective-orientated and that basis gave an aproach to design that is very clear and simple. Working mainly on 2D drawings, as architects do, the first sketches are always facade or sections of the piece of furniture and from there we start.

Here's to: Mestre Francisco Sousa, Sr.Zé, Pedro Soares, Diogo Santos, Luís Sousa and Luís Coelho, Gonçalo Uva, Eduardo Correia, Mauro Jesus, João Bernardino and all others. Always updating ... Thank you!
the inspiration
Good work cannot be produced unless the work is enjoyable; making a thing should bring pleasure, not pain. The work must never be rushed to completion, but done with care and patience. Above all, one should truly enjoy one’s work. It is also important to remember that wood is a living thing – one must understand its properties and not oppose them. Whenever work is forced, it either ruins the piece, damages the tools, or injuries the worker, so work must always be done with the utmost care.
